A golf course built on a remote island in northern California has become a popular destination for those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of their day-to-day life.
The woodlands golf courses at Redwood Island have attracted more than 4,000 golfers each week since they opened in 2012, according to golf instructor and owner of the Redwood Islands Golf Club, Joe Vosburgh.
Vosburgh says the new courses are perfect for people looking for a break from the hustles and bustles of the city.
He said he’s enjoyed seeing people enjoying the new golf courses for years and even though he didn’t always have to make it into the woodlands, he still has an appreciation for the experience.
“People will come from all over the world and come here to play golf,” he said.
Vosburg says the golf course has helped bring a new life to the town and he hopes the woodland golf courses can help to attract more tourists to the area.
In the next year, he says the Redwoods will host a new event called the Red Rock Country Club.
